Honourable Justice (Retd.) Dr. K Narayana Kurup inaugurated SHLOMO - The Ecological Commission of Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church on 06 August 2010 at St. Mary's JSO Valiya Pally Parish Hall Piravam. His Beatitude Catholicos Baselios Thomas I presided over. Cine Director Blessy was the chief guest. Chairman of Shlomo Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese, Metropolitans Dr. Mor Theophilose Kuriakose, Mor Osthatheos Pathrose, Mor Athanasius Elias, Dr. Mor Clemis Kuriakose, Mor Barnabas Geevarghese spoke on the occasion. His Beatitude Catholicos planted a tree on the compound of the church.

H.G. Geevarghese Mor Coorilose Inagurated the unit of "Shlomo" (Ecological commission of JSOC) at St.George Horeb Jacobite Syrian Church Chennithala. Unit Secretarty Jithin A. Steephen delivered the welcome speech. while Inagurating the function H.G. talk about the importance of planting the tree and protecting the enviornment. Rev. Fr. Joykutty Varghese preside over the meeting and Faciltation speeches were delivered Rev.Fr. M.J. Daniel, K.G.Kuruvilla, K.K.Kunjumman, M.G. George, M.Joshuva, Mariamma Joseph.  Mr. Varghese Chacko delivered the vote of thanks.

Unit of "Shlomo" (Ecological commission of JSOC) inagurated at Mor Michael JSOC, Mamalassery. Very. Rev. Fr. Chenakkat Abraham Mathew Chorepiscopa planted the sapling and inaugurated the functioning of the unit. Church trustee Baby Cherukunnel Presided over the meeting held after that. Youth Association Secratry Ajith Joseph delivered the welcome speech. MR. Biju varghese has delivered the key note address on the necessity for preserving the eco system. Sunday School teacher of the church, Ebin P Joy was honored during the meeting for his Doctorate in journalism. Former Kandanad Diocean Youth Association secretary Reji P varghese, Youth association diocean treasurer varghese Pullyattel, Micha varghese and lots of parishers were present for the function.

“Haritha Sayahnam” and Inauguration of SHLOMO Unit at Mekkadampu Mor Ignathiose Noorono Syrian Simhasana Church.

Mekkadampu: Mor Ignathiose Noorono Youth Association (MINYA) under Mor Ignathiose Noorono Syrian Simhasana Church conducted “haritha sayahnam” – an environment awareness program on 4 December 2011, SUnday. Niranam diocesan bishop and President of SLOMO, H.G. Dr. Coorilose Geevarghese Metropolitan delivered an hour long lecture on “Holy Church, Youth and Environment”. His Grace touched upon various environmental issues and urged the youth to propagate the message of environment protection. There was a constructive interactive session with the bishop after the lecture. Many queries ranging from population explosion, building of skyscrapers and big roads to the recent burning Mullapperiyar issue were raised by the audience which, H.G. Dr. Coorilose answered and explained elegantly. A unit of the ecology commission of the Jacobite Syrian Christian church “SLOMO” has been inaugurated by His Grace. Later H.G. Geevarghese Mor Coorilose planted tree saplings in church premises.

Baby Mathew (Secretary, MINYA) presented a resolution requesting the authorities to lower the water level of Mullapperiyar Dam to 120 feet and to construct new environment friendly mini dams to protect the people. H.G. Coorilose metropolitan led a candle light vigil in front of the church expressing solidarity with Mullapperiyar agitations. Vicar Rev. Fr. Jisho Alumkal, Rev. Fr. Eldhose kakkadan, Baby Mathew (Secretary, MINYA), Biju Kuriakose (Vice President, MINYA) and Dr. Ignatious Abraham spoke on the occasion.
